Leo Messi has attached himself to yet another worthy cause. This time he is helping to promote a charity book. ‘La força del Barça’ was written by Víctor Panicello and features illustrations by Marta Biel Tres, and has gone on sale this Thursday with the support of the FC Barcelona Foundation, the Leo Messi Foundation and the Ànima Foundation to raise funds for the fight against cancer among children.
On sale for 9.95 euros
‘La força del Barça’, published by Estrella Polar, is a story aimed at children from 6 years upwards and tells the tale of Nico and Laura, two sick children that get the chance to go to watch the first team training at the Ciutat Esportiva and meet their heroes. It is on sale at all good bookshops for 9.95 euros.
Raising funds for cancer research
All of the profits from the book sales will be going to the translational child cancer research projects at the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR), led by Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo, the head of the Paediatric Oncology and Haematology Service in the Maternal-Infant Unit at the Hospital Vall d’Hebron. The doctor also wrote the prologue to the book.
This is an initiative involving the participation of the Fundació FC Barcelona, the Fundació Leo Messi and Fundació Ànima to help improve the health and welfare of children in vulnerable situations, and also enjoys the support and collaboration of Estrella Polar and the Hospital de la Vall d’Hebron.
