The players donated materials to a group of children from this charity who came to Thursday's training session in Kuala Lumpur

Before training today at the Shah Alam Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, the first team players, in the name of the FC Barcelona Foundation, presented packs of sports material to a Malaysian charity, the Dignity for Children Foundation. The materials included balls, poles, cones and other items used for coaching young children. The presentation was attended by Ramon Pont, first vice president of the FC Barcelona Foundation, and the players and staff then spent some time chatting and posing for photographs with the children that had come to the stadium to collect the gifts.

The FC Barcelona Foundation chose to make this donation to Dignity for Children because it is an NGO that uses football as a means of social inclusion among children from the poorest districts of Kuala Lumpur, something which resonates strongly with the kind of work that the Foundation does in Catalonia and the rest of the world. Dignity for Children is a well-known organisation in the Malaysian context, and is also supported by the UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) and the multinational Nike.

Dignity for Children will be using these packs of material at the Faisal Cup, a sports competition that it organises for children from the most impoverished neighbourhoods of Kuala Lumpur. It will be held in August, and is named after a young beneficiary of the organisation, Faisal, who in 2006 drowned in the River Gombak while trying to retrieve a ball that had landed in the water..
