The book has been given to children at the hospital to coincide with Sant Jordi’s day. Income from the book’s sales will be used to help projects investigating cancer in children.
The Fundació FC Barcelona, the Fundació Leo Messi and the Fundació Ànima, who have helped create the children’s book ‘La força del Barça’, this week distributed copies to children at the Barcelona Vall d’Hebron Hospital. To mark the Catalan festival of Sant Joan, in which books play a central role, various members of the foundations visited the hospital to hand out copies of the book. Amongst those taking part were Ramon Garriga, of the Fundació FC Barcelona, Florencia Parisi, projects director for the Fundació Leo Messi, and the Director of the Fundació Ànima Marina San-Martín, who were shown around the hospital by the head of the Hospital’s Oncology Department Dr. Josep Sánchez de Toledo.
‘La força del Barça’, published by Estrella Polar, is a story aimed at children over 6 and explains the story of Nico and Laura, two children with cancer, who get the chance to visit a Barça training session at the Ciutat Esportiva and meet the team’s stars.
Income to go to cancer research
All income from the book’s sales will go help investigation projects into child cancer at the hospital, led by Dr Toledo, who has also written a prologue for the book.
